After sleeping like a log and then dragging myself out of bed - the previous few days had worn me out - I made my way to the train station early and to Borgo San Lorenzo.
Today's session was one I have been looking forward to - CV's and Jobs...

You know sometimes things really don't go to plan... today was one of those days.
I spent the morning at home and finished planning my first communicative grammar lesson and I was quite happy with what I had come up with. Happy meaning I felt like I had no idea what I was doing and that my head my pop off at any moment. I had a good plan put together so I set off to Borgo San Lorenzo. The train workers had other ideas though when they decided to go on strike today after an incident yesterday. Not helpful. Not at all! I spent well over an hour, almost 2, running back and forth at the station trying to find a train that was running. They were all cancelled at the last moment and the station was in chaos. My anxiety went into overdrive and I didn't know what to do. Luckily, Kristin understood when I contacted her and told me to stay in Florence and focus on planning a great lesson for Thursday instead and that I could study at home. I won't lie - I nearly collapsed with relief after getting so wound up about being late for my lesson. I headed home and continued with lesson planning for my next lesson, and enjoyed a relaxing evening. Today we had the luxury of a later start, 11.45am. I did not get to sleep in though as it takes me a good hour and a half to get to the school from home what with the train journey and all the tourist dodging in Florence to deal with.
Our session at the school today was interesting and really helpful, we went over the various teaching methodologies and this knowledge will be very useful in the future…. |
